Time for Maple Syrup – Hooray!

If you missed Maine Maple Syrup Sunday this year, mark your calender for next year. It always takes place on the 4th Sunday in March, rain, shine or snow!
We have family friends who sugar up in Elliotsville, Maine. We always feel so lucky when some "Farnham Gold" appears under our Christmas tree. Maybe, I can talk Anne out of her Maple Balsamic Vinaigrette recipe? Last year was a tough year for maple syrup in Maine, so there are high hopes for good yields this year.

When Marco and I were newlyweds, I learned that he had never even tasted real maple syrup. The Horror! Well, it is safe to say that Marco is now a true maple syrup zealot, prone to licking his plate when no one is looking, so nothing is wasted.
Check out the recent Under the High Chair post on sugaring in Canada. The cream, vodka and maple syrup creation Amy featured had me running to the liquor cabinet. The cocktail was like Bailey’s Irish Cream gone maple. Delish, I tell you, totally delish: A perfect finish to a spring dinner party.
