Happy Thanksgiving 2010 -recipe round up

flavorista_thanksgiving_mums_2010

As we round the corner into the holiday season, we are grateful for so many things: Healthy families, dear friends, freelance work and book contracts to name a few.

With winter approaching, we are looking forward to some cold weather cooking: Roasted root vegetables, hearty stews, rich braised meats, sweet pies with flaky crusts and tender cakes made with fall fruits.

At our Thanksgiving tables, we respect traditional favorites like cranberry sauce and welcome new recipes like cranberry relish with orange and ginger.  Are you trying anything new this year?

Some inspiration:

Fruit and Nut Crisps
Carrot, Leek and Apple Soup with Garlic Croutons
Brussel Sprouts Almondine
Savory Bourbon Corn Pudding
Pomegranate Glazed Turkey with Apple-Almond Stuffing
Pear-Cranberry Upside Down Cake

Barr and I will both be posting ideas to Flavorista’s Facebook page as we approach Thanksgiving.

When we return, we’ll be posting our favorite recipe for homemade chocolate pudding and Barr is working on a holiday gift idea round-up.  I have a very interesting “Five Questions” post in the works as well.

Happy Thanksgiving Flavoristas, may you dine and drink well!
